Ksenia - Behind the Palace Curtain

There are places where fashion feels larger than fashion.

On the evening of 1 September 2026, beneath the architecture of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the past and the present met on a runway created for VIRTUOSE: The Artistry of Couture 2026 - a celebration of couture, craftsmanship and the imagination of designers working between cultures.

Among them was Ksenia (@ksenia__lev), walking for Hong Kong label Tigerstrolling in a look that seemed to belong to another world.

Ivory against darkness. Transparency against structure. A delicate line drawn across the shoulder. The silhouette moves almost like a piece of sculpture, softening as Ksenia walks before revealing its construction again. There is something quietly theatrical about it - an apparition moving through the warm light of the museum, surrounded by the echoes of another century.

The setting could hardly have been more deliberate.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum, with its extraordinary collection of imperial objects and centuries of Chinese artistic history, became the backdrop for VIRTUOSE’s meeting of couture and culture. The runway was conceived as a passage between history and the present - a place where the language of traditional craftsmanship could encounter the restless imagination of contemporary designers.

This year’s VIRTUOSE carries the idea of “Journey Through Time, Across Cultures and Beyond Imagination,” bringing together four couture voices from Spain, Vietnam and Hong Kong: Guillermo Décimo, Phan Huy, Tigerstrolling Artisanal and Vivian Luk.

Each designer brings a different cultural vocabulary to the conversation. Together, they create something more expansive - a portrait of couture as a living art form rather than a fixed tradition.

And within that dialogue, Tigerstrolling occupies an especially intriguing position.

Founded in Hong Kong by designers Tiger Chung Ka Ching and Tiger Chung Tsz Ho, the label has developed a language built on contradiction: sophistication against irreverence, couture craftsmanship against everyday objects, precision against the unexpected.

Their work is known for deconstructed tailoring, unconventional proportions and material regeneration, often transforming discarded or ordinary elements into something theatrical and refined. The result is fashion that can appear elegant at first glance, only to reveal a more mischievous idea underneath.

For VIRTUOSE 2026, the designers introduced Tigerstrolling Artisanal, a new artisanal line that deepens their exploration of couture - bringing intricate craftsmanship and cutting into conversation with deconstruction and sustainability.

Ksenia’s look captures that tension beautifully.

There is nothing conventional about the silhouette, yet nothing feels forced. The garment allows the body to remain visible beneath its layers, while the exaggerated proportions create a sense of movement around it. Ksenia does not overpower the design; she gives it its rhythm.

And rhythm is at the heart of this year’s wider Hong Kong Fashion Fest.

The 2026 edition places Hong Kong at the centre of a broader conversation about fashion as culture - connecting designers, artisans, international talent and audiences across Asia and beyond. VIRTUOSE serves as its opening couture statement, bringing together four distinct design worlds inside one of the city’s most extraordinary cultural spaces.

The result is less a conventional fashion show than a meeting of disciplines.

History becomes architecture. Architecture becomes atmosphere. Craft becomes clothing. And clothing, once placed in motion, becomes something else entirely.

Ksenia enters the frame almost silently.

Then the room changes.

Her appearance for Tigerstrolling has already found its way into the visual conversation surrounding the event, with Vogue Hong Kong and Harper’s Bazaar Hong Kong among the fashion titles highlighting the VIRTUOSE programme and its designers.

For a model, these are the moments that become part of a larger story.

Not simply the name of a show or the memory of a runway, but an image connected to a city, a designer, a cultural institution and a particular moment in fashion.

Ksenia’s image from Hong Kong carries all of them.
